• The 5 things that you need to keep in mind in regards to tattoo ink

    1. When using plastic based inks you need to be careful; they can congeal under the skin and this leads to chunks of ink. These chunks of ink can separate from the rest of the skin and ruin the look of the tattoo.
    2. You should always use a new ink for each customer. Things can get inside the ink after you open it so you shouldn’t use it again. Use new ink every time.
    3. Avoid having your ink stay in direct sunlight. This can cause a chemical reaction which turns the ink bad.
    4. If you have any unused ink you should just throw it away; this will help with the second suggestion above.
    5. Know all you can about your inks. If you know a lot you will be reassure your customers when they have any concerns.

People do become a bit too concerned about the health risks of tattoo ink; there is no real need to be too alarmed though. It is claimed that almost 15% of people living in North America have a tattoo and you rarely hear problems being reported.

So long as you always buy your inks from someone you trust and you know a bit about ink there really should be no problem. When starting off it is advisable to ask other tattoo artists about the inks they prefer to use.
